CREATING GOD IN PRAYER

Ano bang purpose natin kapag nagpi-pray tayo?

I realized that I live in a life getting in control. How people should response to me…my family members decision…everything should be within my expectation. That’s why I often ask God...”Lord sana ganito ang mangyari…” or "God sana ito ang gawin niya…”. etc and Elaborating to God what He should do and if not granted, I’ll get frustrated and magtatampo na kay Lord ng konti. ^_^

Found myself again reading the book by Philip Yancey about prayer, in part 2 entitled “View from Above”. The author pointed out how prayer can change our perspective. Most of us cared too much about our concerns and ended up in prayer, pleading to God hoping to change God’s mind. Some are thinking of ways in which God should serve us. We forget to see that God already cares about our concerns; we just need to shift direction. Beginning with God who bears primary responsibility for what happens on earth, and ask what part we can play in God’s work on earth.

Letting God be our God means that we need to climb down from our own executive chair of control. Because we cannot control our world, seeing the reality that we live on a broken planet, fallen far from God’s original intent. It takes effort to remember who we are, God’s creation, and faith to imagine what we someday will be, God’s triumph.

Indeed it will take a lot of effort taking away my own selfishness and see the reality from God’s point of view.

THE REUNION

The title sounds like a horror movie.

Well, but the event last weekend seems to me a lighter version of horror movie. Hehehe!!! It’s actually a death anniversary commemoration of my grandfather where most of my father’s relatives are present. The makuapo and apos are there so the place is filled with so many little angels na sobrang kukulit. But amazingly the 4-storey house (with rooftop) was not crowded. We just enjoyed singing at in house videoke, eating different kinds of food, drinking different taste of red wine; a never-ending chat and you will hear laughter most of the time at every corner of the house. And there, my dreadful story is about to begin. Hehehe!!!

One of my uncles (Sorry Uncle, nakalimutan ko name mo…ikaw kasi…hehehe!!!) asked me out loud how old I am and I just answered them in a joke that I am 25 (mukha naman ah!) and immediately asking again if I already have “asawa”. Take note, hindi man lang tinanong na boyfriend. Sabagay kahit yun ang itanong, iisa lang ang sagot ko. (Hehehe!!!) And it was Sunday morning; my Uncle Tim started to be so makulit and wala siyang nakita kundi ako na kulitin. He started to give advice to me that I should initiate thinking of getting married…that its too hard to have a baby when your too old…and that your father should have apo to play with…etc..etc… Good thing, I manage to escape from his innocently insults to my whole being…hahaha!!! But there unknowingly rudeness doesn’t stop there. Weh!!! We had this so-called mini program organized by one of my auntie. We had an opening prayer then an intermission number from one of my auntie and after that I was also asked to render a special song. It was followed by distribution of souvenir gifts with matching picture taking with Lola Sinay. All were awarded to take pictures individually along with their husbands or wives (I guess this is the highlights of the program). Even my cousin who’s younger than me (months lang ang tanda ko) together with her husband was granted to take a picture with Lola Sinay. And how about Me? I am just honored to be their photographer then led a closing prayer to end the program. (Don’t worry hindi nila ako inalila…)

Haayyy… I don’t envy them taking pictures but it seems that I became alien coming from Venus (naks Venus talaga! Goddess of beauty kasi ito…) cursed of not getting married or without a partner.

The lesson of this story – don’t attend any reunion when you don’t have a partner na maipagmamalaki sa harapan nila…(just kidding!) But all in all, I enjoy the reunion happenings…kahit harap harapan nila akong binabalahura…hehehe!!! And that’s why I love them.
